On Tuesday, September 17, 2024, Governor Tim Walz spoke directly to the heart of what matters here in Western North Carolina.
Governor Walz reminded us that the issues we’re talking about on the campaign trail aren’t just headlines or talking points—they’re real, and they’re impacting families, neighbors, and communities right here at home.
And when he invited disenfranchised Republican voters to join us, he did something important: he reminded us that no one should feel stuck on a team that isn’t delivering for them. If your team’s not working for you, it’s okay to change sides—and I welcome anyone ready to make that leap.
Governor Walz also made a point that hits home: Republicans love to say government doesn’t work—and then, when they get in office, they set out to prove it. Here in Western North Carolina, we’ve had Republican representation for too many terms, and what’s been the result? Stagnation. Missed opportunities.
But, just like we’re seeing a new generation of politics taking hold across the country, we’ve got the chance to do something different right here. We can expand Medicaid, protect Social Security, improve healthcare access, build affordable housing, and create good-paying jobs for our people.
We deserve better leadership—leadership that focuses less on policing who we love or what we talk about with our doctors, and more on keeping our children safe, strengthening our economy, and lifting up our entire community.
With less than 50 days to go, I’m ready to roll up my sleeves. I’ll keep visiting every county, meeting voters where they are, and earning the trust of my neighbors. This is a tough race, but it’s one we can win—because this district can’t…
