WNBA standout Angel Reese will end her rookie season in the WNBA early. The Chicago Sky player suffered a season-ending injury to her wrist Friday (Sept 7) when her team played against the Los Angeles Sparks.

A fan favorite, Reese became a sports sensation as part of the team that helped LSU bring home their first ever women’s NCAA championship title. She went on to become the No. 7 pick in the 2024 draft and had 26 double-doubles, second most in a season and made WNBA history again with 15 consecutive double-doubles.
“What a year.” Angel wrote below a courtside Instagram pic one day after the game. “I never would have imagined the last bucket of my rookie season would be a 3 but maybe that was God saying give them a taste of what they will be seeing more of in Year 2 lol Through it all, I have showed that I belong in this league even when no one else believed. All I have ever wanted was to come into the W and make an impact. I can confidently say I have done that and will strive to keep doing so. I’m filled with emotions right now that I have a season ending injury, but also filled with so much gratitude for what is next. Although this is God’s timing and not mine, I am finally able to give myself a physical and mental break.”
Despite her season-ending injury, Reese will remain in the public eye: Her podcast, “Unapologetically Angel,” debuted earlier this month Shaquille O’Neal’s Playmaker HQ. Listeners can tune in on platforms like YouTube and various podcast apps.
Angel co-hosts the pod with Maya Reese (no relation). Together, they are looking to hold engaging conversations with guests from the sports, entertainment, fashion, and business worlds.
