Crocs really can do it all — not only does the company’s signature cushioned clogs easily shift from slippers to Sport Mode, but they just as easily inspire collaborations with all kinda partners. Next up: previous partner Star Wars, with whom Crocs has devised an ingenious ode to Chewbacca.
Like ’em or not, Crocs’ Chewbacca clogs are pretty clever and probably the most wearable Chewbacca-themed shoes ever (not that there’s much competition).
First off, there’s the fur texture photo-realistically rendered atop the Crocs clog that matches the plush brown fuzz that lines the shoe — a nice, cohesive touch. Then, there’s the unadjustable forefoot strap finished to look like Chewbacca’s bandolier belt, which both breaks up the upper and acts as a subtle indicator of the Star Wars inspiration.
A less subtle inspiration indication is the “CHEWBACCA” text embossed in a sort of Iron Maiden-esque font on the clog’s adjustable strap. Not terribly understated but, then again, these are Chewbacca-inspired Crocs.
The finishing touch is a set of Chewbacca-themed Jibbitz that grace the shoe’s toe, including the furry guy’s face, the Millennium Falcon, and even an attempt at spelling out the otherwise non-verbal Chewbacca’s signature growl.
According to rumors Chewbacca clogs will be available on Crocs’ website in Septemeber, accompanying the existing Mandalorian-referencing clogs.
Perhaps this Chewbacca clog foretells more Star Wars Crocs in the near future, in a galaxy not so far away.
Not that Crocs isn’t doing much in the meanwhile.
In recent months, Crocs has partnered with brands as diverse as MSCHF, Levi’s, Satisfy, and Palace Skateboards, for instance, and, of course, Crocs got in on the action with about every other brand on the planet, dropping its own Barbie-themed clog collection.
