Pie for Pi – Thursday, March 14 from 6-7:30 p.m. Burton Street’s Pi Day pie baking contest is the place to be! Prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place pies. Sample and vote for the best tasting pie. Pie bakers must have pies arrive promptly by 6. Registration required for pie bakers. FREE. Burton Street Community Center, 134 Burton Street.
St. Waggy’s Day – Friday, March 15 from 5-7 p.m. Celebrate our furry tail-wagging friends at the St. Patrick’s Day Pawty (dogs must be on leash). Refreshments provided for both canines and humans. Giveaways, music, festive decor, and the chance to win prizes (best dog costume, best dog trick, and a treat jar guessing game). Registration encouraged. FREE. Burton Street Community Center, 134 Burton Street.
March Madness – Sundays, March 24 and March 31 from 1-6 p.m. Watch the March Madness games, shown live all day Sunday. Light refreshments will be served. FREE. Linwood Crump Shiloh Community Center, 121 Shiloh Road.
Day Trip: NC Transportation Museum – Thursday, March 28 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Enjoy lunch and then explore the NC Transportation Museum in Spencer, NC. This is a large museum with a good amount of walking. Cost: $5 plus cost of museum ticket. Please register at www.avlREC.com. Harvest House, 205 Kenilworth Road.
Spring Eggstravaganza – Saturday, March 30 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Outdoor egg hunt starts at 11:30 a.m. Food, refreshments, and crafts will be provided. FREE. Burton Street Community Center, 134 Burton Street.
