Asheville/Buncombe Black Elders Engagement Project Activities and Events

Art in the Park – Friday, April 12 from 5-7 p.m. Program brings together Ages 40 and up. All artistic levels are welcome. Participants will receive an 11×14 wrapped canvas, acrylic paints, brushes, and all necessary materials. Soft music and a light inspirational snack will provide a relaxing environment. Day Trip: Waynesville – Thursday, April 18 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Lunch and shopping in downtown Waynesville. Transportation is free. Participants are responsible for their food/drink. Please register at www.avlREC.com or call (828) 350-2051. Cost:$2. Harvest House, 205 Kenilworth Road.

Stop and Shop Pop Up Market – Saturday, April 20 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sell the best for less; gently worn clothes, sweets, treats, handmade crafts, pottery, or other items. Tables are $5. Please register at www.avlREC.com or call (828) 350-2062. Grove Street Community Center, 36 Grove Street.

Dog Pawty & Adoption Event – Saturday, April 20 from 1-3 p.m. Visit with other folks and their four-legged friends; find your new furever friend. Free refreshments and music. Dogs must be on leash. Hosted by Mountain Pet Rescue. Burton Street Community Center, 134 Burton Street.

Burton Street Craft Market – Saturday, April 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Come find your next gift or keepsake while supporting local artisans. To sell or display your craft, please contact Megan Wiet at [email protected] or call (828) 989-9048. $15 vendor fee; spots are limited. Free. Burton Street Community Center, 134 Burton Street.

Spring Fling Dance – Saturday, April 27 from 4-7 p.m. It’s an All White Affair! Put on your party best and join us for a night of music, dancing, and fellowship. Free. Stephens-Lee Community Center, 30 George Washington Carver Avenue.
