According to Barbara Corcoran, the key to a happy marriage is different bedrooms.
During Thursday’s episode of “Today,” the real estate guru revealed that the key to her “fun” marriage with Bill Higgins is sleeping in “separate bedrooms.”
“I’ve had a separate bedroom with Bill for like 40 years,” the “Shark Tank” judge, 75, told host Jenna Bush Hagher.
“I have to invite him in — he invites me in occasionally.”
The businesswoman explained that, while some people might find their sleeping arrangements a bit odd, it adds a level of “sexiness” to their relationship.
She then detailed that they came up with the idea after realizing they had very different cleaning habits.
“He puts piles of stuff everywhere and I am very neat so I couldn’t sleep well at night,” she explained. “Now, I sleep like a baby.”
Along with their slightly unconventional agreement, Corcoran also revealed that she was the one who proposed to Higgins in the ’80s.

“I wanted to get a husband so I said, ‘What the heck!’” the reality TV star joked.
While it’s unclear if the pair sleep in different beds every night, Corcoran shared another potential reason she prefers to have her own space on Instagram in November 2023.
At the time, Corcoran posted a photo of herself sitting in bed wearing a CPAP machine mask — which uses mild pressure to keep someone’s upper airway passages open to prevent snoring and sleep apnea, per the Mayo Clinic.
“Told Bill I had a surprise tonight,” she captioned the funny flick. “This isn’t what he was hoping for. 😂”
The Queen of New York real estate and the former FBI agent met in 1981 at a business conference. Higgins told Yahoo! News in 2018 that he tried to play it cool and introduced himself to the entrepreneur with “business intentions only,”
