When the Duke of Halstead dies, his second son inherits everything, including the title, house and grounds, plus a whole heap of trouble.

In The Gentlemen, a new series streaming on Netflix, Eddie inherits the 500-year-old country estate of his father. He then discovers that it’s home to a huge weed empire and the proprietors aren’t going anywhere. Eddie’s father had an arrangement with Bobby Glass (played by Ray Winstone) to lease the land in exchange for a cut of the profits, and Bobby’s daughter Susie (played by Kaya Scodelario), who is managing the operation while her dad is in prison, is working to make sure the profitable enterprise continues.

This captivating new series stars Theo James as Captain Eddie Halstead, Joely Richardson as his mother, and Daniel Ings as his gambling, coked-out, loser brother. In learning to manage the estate, Eddie encounters several erratic characters including Bobby’s pious brother Gospel John, Giancarlo Esposito as the massively wealthy Stanley Johnston, and Michael Vu as the organizations head pot grower.

Determined to extricate his family from the cannabis empire, Eddie tries to beat the gangsters at their own game. As Eddie attempts to navigate a world full of dangerous characters with nefarious agendas, one thing leads to another, filling each of the eight episodes with exaggerated twists and turns, subplots, connections, and bizarre, unanticipated consequences.
