In this wickedly dark comedy by playwright Jen Silverman, a charming devil arrives in the quiet village of Edmonton to bargain for the souls of its residents in exchange for their darkest wishes.
Elizabeth should be his easiest target, having been labeled a witch and cast out by the town, but her soul is not so readily bought. As the devil returns—and returns again—to convince her, unexpected passions flare, alliances are formed, and the village is forever changed.
Directed by NC Stage co-founder Angie Flynn-McIver, this riveting play will leave viewers spellbound. Flynn-McIver says: “Witch is a surprisingly funny look at what happens when we’re asked, ‘What would you sell your soul for?’ The characters in this play all have different answers, and you might see yourself in one of them!”
The play was called “fiendishly funny” by the Los Angeles Blade. The current cast includes Daniel Henry, Anthony Johnson, Arusi Santi, and locally known NC Stage veterans Philip Kershaw (Be Here Now and A Case for the Existence of God), Gabrielle Story (Antigone), and Callan White (the Jeeves series, Annapurna, Stalking the Bogeyman).
Witch is on stage March 15 through April 7, 2024. Note that the play includes strong language and staged violence. Performances on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m.; Fridays and Sundays at 2 p.m.; and Friday, March 15 at 7:30 p.m. Mask-required performances are Friday, March 22 at 2 p.m. and Thursday, April 4 at 7:30 p.m.
