Meghan Trainor apologized for being insensitive after saying “f–k teachers” during a heated discussion on her podcast.
“Teachers of TikTok and teachers of the world, I recently said ‘eff teachers’ on the podcast, and it’s not how I feel,” the “Made You Look” singer clarified in a video posted to her TikTok Sunday.
“I was fired up because we were talking about how sending your kid to school here in America is so horrific. What all of us have to go through, but especially teachers, is not normal and not OK.”
Trainor, 29, went on to express her appreciation for teachers, admitting she needs to be more careful with her words in the future.
“I love teachers. I fight for teachers. I think they have the hardest job, and they are the most underpaid, they’re the most unappreciated, when they literally raise all of us,” she said.
“I don’t want to make excuses. I’m just so sorry to any teachers who I made feel bad. And I will remind myself that my words definitely could have a consequence, and I will be more careful. Love you all so much. I’m so sorry again. Thank you all for helping me.”
The Grammy winner explained that her anger was directed toward specific teachers but that she did “not mean it to all teachers.”
“I had Trisha Paytas on the podcast, and I knew her history with her teachers, and I knew my husband’s history with his teachers, and I was bullied by some teachers,” she explained. “So in that moment, I got angry and said, ‘Eff teachers. Eff those specific human beings back in the day.’”
Trainor reiterated in the caption of her video that she was “sorry for being careless” with her words, concluding, “Let’s work to make schools a better place together.”
