Fabolous Shares ‘Funny’ Story About Kobe Bryant Pulling Up To ‘Trade It All’ Video Shoot

Fabolous has recently shared a heartwarming, but funny, story about the late Kobe Bryant, and the time he pulled up to Fab’s “Trade It All” video shoot.

The Brooklyn rapper sat down with The Starting Five podcast on Saturday (June 3), where he fondly remembered the NBA great as the host talked about basketball fashion in Hip Hop (and, specifically, the sporting of basketball jerseys).

“Kobe came to the video,” Fabolous said. “It was in Venice Beach, CA. I don’t think the scene that he came in, I was wearing the jersey — but he came, though.”

He continued: “The funniest part of him coming to the shoot was…you know, everybody’s excited, Kobe’s coming to the set. So [DJ]Clue was like, ‘yo, ask him if he wants to jump in and be in a cameo in the video.’ I said, ‘I ain’t askin Kobe that. You ask him.’ So, he went over there to ask him, Kobe, and Kobe said, ‘naw,’ you know? ‘I just came to show some love to Fab.’ Clue, I think, was having a good moment and he wanted to turn it into a great moment. Shoot for the stars. But it was cool, man. I wore his jersey.”

The retired NBA superstar was killed in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California on January 26, 2020. Everyone onboard the flight was killed.

Although emergency personnel responded as quickly as possible, they were unable to save anyone’s life. Senior NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowksi confirmed Bryant’s 13-year-old daughter Gianna was one of the passengers who was also killed.

“Sources: Kobe Bryant was on his way to a travel basketball game with his daughter Gianna when the helicopter crashed,” he tweeted. “Those aboard the helicopter also included another player and parent.”
