Drake and Kendrick Lamar‘s rap beef made it to the sports world as “euphoria” was recently played in the background on TNT’s Inside The NBA.
Airing on Wednesday (May 1), the show’s roundtable of hosts were surprised to hear the Drake diss playing in the background – with Kenny Smith quickly noting that it looks like they’re picking sides and he wants no parts.
“Why y’all putting us in the middle of the rap beef! Come on man!” he asked while laughing. “We in the middle of the rap beef! If you play one side, you gotta play the other.”
It took Shaq a minute to recognize what was happening as he asked, “Is that ‘euphoria’ in the background?” But once he confirmed that was the case, he was excited about the bold choice by the show’s DJ.
Charles Barkley was not here for it at all, however, shaking his head as he said, “Rap beef. Grown ass men,” to which Shaq replied, “Mind your business.”
Meanwhile, fellow host Ernie Johnson Jr. seemed to not even understand nor care about the conversation as he hilariously tried to continue talking basketball.
Over on another sports show, Cam’ron and Ma$e also recently discussed Kendrick Lamar’s “euphoria” on It Is What It Is – and they weren’t blown away by what they heard.
The Harlem rappers turned sports personalities shared their thoughts on the explosive track on the their show on Wednesday (May 1), with both men agreeing that the 6 God is winning the battle so far.
“Drake is definitely winning from an MC standpoint,” Ma$e said, praising the Toronto native’s own recent diss songs “Push Ups” and “Taylor Made Freestyle.”
“It took a while for us to get the record from Kendrick and when you wait a while it gotta be outta this world. I think if Kendrick dropped this record right after ‘[Push Ups] Drop and Give Me 50,’ it would have been crazy.”
