21 Savage Misses Hot 100 Chart Placement After Billboard Rule Change

21 Savage didn’t make the cut on one of Billboard’s most important charts due to a new eligibility rule, though only one of his songs have been excluded from the tally as a result.

The music and entertainment company seems to have implemented a new rule for minimum runtime as the title track of the rapper’s new american dream album, which is one minute and three seconds long, has not been placed on the most recent Hot 100 chart despite generating enough sales.

This, however, is a minor blemish on the Atlanta native’s rich track record. Aside from the aforementioned disqualification, he still has 14 songs on this week’s chart, two of which are in the Top 10.

21 Savage’s latest project debuted at No.1 on the Billboard 200, earning him his highest first-week sales as a solo artist. The 31-year-old rapper’s latest LP topped the chart with 133,000 album-equivalent units in its opening week earlier this month.

american dream marks his fourth No.1 record and narrowly surpasses the first-week sales of his last solo LP, i am > i was, which opened with 131,000 units back in 2018. It went on to be nominated for Best Rap Album at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards.
