Tom Ford dare to wear black at party for Tom Wolfe movie

by UNN Feed

At a Palm Beach screening of a new film on Tom Wolfe, Florida society folks mostly adhered to a dress code of white in homage to the late writer.

But not every guest got the fashion memo, as five chic renegades — Tom Ford, George Hamilton, Bruce Weber, Kelly Klein and Baby Jane Holzer — stood out in black. Go figure!

Speakers included author Michael Shnayerson and Tony Marx, president of the New York Public Library (where Wolfe’s papers reside, thanks to billionaire donor Kathy Rayner).

Later, Blaine Trump, Bret Baier, John Paulson, Wilbur Ross, Peter Soros, Bobbi Brown, Harry Benson and Judith Miller wolfed (pun intended) pies at Pizza al Fresco.

A spy said, “The evening was organized by Peggy Siegal doing what she does best, which is rounding up the socialites, philanthropists, the greats and near greats.” The guest added, “It’s not about what’s on the table; it’s all about what’s on the chairs.”

Quipped a spy, “Tom Wolfe would’ve loved to have been a fly on the wall.”

The famed author of “The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test” passed away in 2018 at age 88.

He started his career as a journalist for the New York Herald Tribune in 1962, and went on to wrote “The Right Stuff,” “The Pump House Gang,” “Radical Chic & Mau-Mauing the Flak Catchers” and “The Painted Word,” among other titles.

Also spotted were Emilia and Pepe Fanjul, Dan and Esty Brodsky, Charlotte Beers, Abby and Howard Milstein, Paul Wilmot and Dixon Boardman and West Palm mayor Keith James. Quipped a spy, “Tom Wolfe would’ve loved to have been a fly on the wall.”

The film is streaming on Netflix.
