Ben Affleck has been “actively involved” in supporting his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner, after the death of her father, William Garner, according to a new report.
“He has been checking in on her and making sure she knows he is there for her since her dad’s passing,” a source told “Entertainment Tonight” Thursday. “It was the kids’ grandfather, and Ben and him always got along.”
The insider added that Affleck “considered [William] family and always will,” so he has been “supportive across the board.”
The source explained that “beyond dealing with this loss,” Jennifer has been “in a happy place” while co-parenting her and the actor’s three children: Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12.
The “Alias” star, 52, announced the loss of her 85-year-old father in an emotional tribute shared to Instagram on April 1.
“My dad passed peacefully Saturday afternoon. We were with him, singing Amazing Grace as he left us (did we carry him across or scare him away— valid question.) While there is no tragedy in the death of an 85 year old man who lived a healthy, wonderful life, I know grief is unavoidable, waiting around unexpected corners,” she captioned a series of throwback photos with William.
Jennifer also expressed her “gratitude” and praised her late dad’s “gentle demeanor and quiet strength.”
“For how he teased with a mischievous smile, and for the way he invented the role of all in, ever patient girl dad. We are grateful for his work ethic, leadership and faith,” she wrote.
