Sona restaurant moves on without Priyanka Chopra

Call it a second course.

Priyanka Chopra’s former business partner in the hip NYC eatery Sona, Maneesh Goyal, is expanding the restaurant after the “Quantico” star exited the project over the summer.

On Thursday, Goyal premiered the Salon at Sona, a new “tea and cocktail lounge” located at the front of the hotspot.

Goyal co-hosted a holiday soiree, “Tea & Tinsel,” with “Russian Doll” actor and downtown fixture Waris Ahluwalia — who is also the founder of the House of Waris Botanicals tea line.

The event brought out socialites including Marjorie “DJ Mad Marj” Gubelmann, Jill Kargman, Amit Dishon and “The Real Housewives of New York City” star Jessel Taank.

Guests were greeted with champagne and lite Indian bites from the new salon including samosa pinwheels, aloo paneer and crab puri caviar. The party also featured cocktails from Goyal’s other downtown spot Temple Bar, and libations infused with Ahluwalia’s tea.

The celebration was one of the restaurant’s first since Chopra stepped down unexpectedly over the summer, two years after it opened.

The star’s rep had told People that, “bringing Sona to life will invariably be a proud and significant moment in her career.”

The rep added, “Priyanka has always endeavored to bring Indian culture to the fore through storytelling, whether that’s via engaging content for film and TV, or a beautifully plated dish that embodies the haute cuisine of India.”

Goyal told the mag,  “We’re grateful for her partnership and support. While she will no longer be involved as a creative partner moving forward, she remains in the Sona family and we are excited for our respective new chapters ahead.”
