He’s happy for Huma!
Huma Abedin’s ex, disgraced politician Anthony Weiner, tells he’s “thrilled” for Abedin after her engagement to billionaire Alex Soros.
We exclusively reported on Wednesday that Soros popped the question six weeks ago and the duo celebrated the happy news in Italy.
“I’m thrilled for Huma,” Weiner told us via email when asked to comment on the engagement. “They are remarkable people and I wish them much happiness.”
After our story broke, Soros posted an image of himself romantically proposing on Instagram.
A friend of Abedin’s for over 15 years told of the engaged couple: “The best way I can describe the relationship is effortless.”
The source also added of the betrothed duo, “After a lot of tumultuous years for Huma, she’s relaxed and happy and in love.”
Abedin, 47, who is Hillary Clinton’s former chief of staff, described in her 2021 memoir how her perfect world was turned upside down when Weiner, the onetime congressman from Queens, admitted to the sexting scandal in 2011 that would ultimately bring him down.
“Just like that, life as I knew it was officially over,” she wrote in the book, which was titled “Both/And: A Life in Many Words.”
Weiner’s political career — and his marriage — were subsequently torpedoed by further revelations of his serial sexting that even sent him to prison for sending racy texts to an underage girl.
He infamously used the nickname “Carlos Danger” when sexting at least some of them.
Since 2019, Weiner has tried a number of professional roles including crisis PR man, CEO of a Brooklyn glass company and local NYC radio host, a gig he landed in February 2022.
