The Asheville Symphony presents Rock & Heavy Metal at the Orange Peel followed by a recital by internationally renowned Pianist David Fung.
The Asheville Symphony will usher in the new year with two performances in January that highlight the breadth of the Symphony’s programming.
“January is a study in contrasts for the Asheville Symphony,” said Daniel Crupi, Executive Director. “One week we feature guitarist JIJI at the legendary Orange Peel for a night of metal, rock, prog, and classical fusion, and the very next week we welcome a classical rockstar—one of the world’s fastest-rising talents—for an intimate recital experience at downtown’s Central United Methodist Church.”

On Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at 7 p.m., the Asheville Symphony’s acclaimed ALT ASO series takes the stage at The Orange Peel with an innovative performance featuring guitarist JIJI and a chamber orchestra from the Asheville Symphony. This performance will feature everything from Vivaldi to Prince and Metallica—an exploration of where classical meets rock ‘n’ roll.
“ASO at the Orange Peel” is part of the symphony’s ALT ASO series, which takes the orchestra on the road to unique locations around Asheville to play innovative concerts. Since the series launched in 2022, it has been a huge hit, securing grants from both the National Endowment for the Arts and the William R. Kenan, Jr. Charitable Trust in 2023.

On Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at 7 p.m., the Symphony will welcome internationally renowned pianist David Fung for a stunning recital that explores the emotional breadth of the piano.
