A-B Tech recently launched its Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) website and several new grant-funded activities to ensure the college community feels respected, valued, and visible.
DEIB initiatives, grants, and related professional development are overseen by Erika Lett, executive director of the Office of DEI.
As part of the program, Dr. Joseph Fox conducts professional development for college employees and provides life coaching and mentoring for underserved students. A former A-B Tech Business Administration Department Chair, Fox introduces students to concepts related to personal goal setting, balancing work and life, creating a personal brand for a thriving life, and identifying careers that fulfill students’ personal values and passions.
Fox recently completed a series for employees titled “Being Inclusive Series: Mentoring, Coaching, and Advocacy.” In the final session, he discussed the differences between mentorship, coaching, and advocating for students.
