Defend Black History

by The Urban News

Color Of Change is hosting two free, virtual training sessions to provide the tools you’ll need to build collective power to safeguard Black history and thwart efforts to ban books in your community.

The marginalization of Black history, Black students, and Black educators in public school systems must end now. Learn how to use your voice to defend Black history and to push back against bans on books written by Black authors and featuring Black people in schools and libraries.

Since January 2021, 18 states have imposed bans/restrictions on teaching critical race theory or limiting how teachers can discuss racism & sexism. Similar restrictions have been introduced in 26 other states. People in a few cities, like Little Rock, Arkansas, have successfully pushed their local school boards to ignore the state policy. Join Color Of Change as we get real and collectively take action about what Black history means for our communities.
