Scholarship Day recognizes local and regional high school and college graduates.
Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church is honored that attorney Darrius Dixon, a civil defense lawyer from Knoxville, TN, will be the guest speaker for the Annual Scholarship Day. Scholarship Day, held on Sunday, June 25, 2023, is designed to recognize local and regional high school and college graduates during the 10:45 a.m. worship service. Area youth, teens, family members and the community are strongly encouraged to attend this service to hear a message that will challenge and inspire.
With local roots in Asheville, Dixon is a practicing attorney in Knoxville, with a diverse range of knowledge in various practice areas. He graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Law in 2022, where he obtained his Juris Doctor after completing his undergraduate studies in criminal justice at Middle Tennessee State University.
In law school, Dixon was an active member of the Wills and Estate Planning Clinic, allowing him to develop a deep understanding of estate planning and asset protection, and he was involved in the Black Law Student Association and the Health Law Society, showcasing his commitment to inclusivity and his interest in health-related legal matters. He also served as Vice President of the Student Bar Association during his third year and as the Co-Chair of the Student Wellness Committee.
In recognition of his academic achievements, Dixon was awarded the Julian Blackshear Scholarship and the Napier Looby Bar Foundation Scholarship.
Prior to law school Dixon served as a police officer for two years in Murfreesboro, TN. This experience provided him with invaluable insight into law enforcement procedures, the criminal justice system, and public safety. His dedication, along with his comprehensive understanding of complex law, enables him to provide effective legal representation and guidance.
