BankNewport recently concluded its 2023-2024 BNWise financial education partnerships with Middletown High School, William S. Rogers High School in Newport, and West Warwick High School with immersive financial education fairs at each school.

The fairs served as a capstone for the initiative through which BankNewport representatives conducted presentations on key financial education topics, such as career planning and preparing a personal monthly budget.

“We’re extremely proud to present financial education to the youth of our community,” stated Jack Murphy, President and CEO of BankNewport in a statement. “It cannot be overstated how critical it is for students to become financially literate. Whether they choose to enter the workforce or pursue formal education after high school, we want them all to be knowledgeable and confident in their financial choices, and achieve success as future employees, parents, and members of our community.”

Over 285 students participated in the interactive budgeting exercise that simulated real-life financial decision-making, allowing students to choose a career path and navigate through monthly income and living expenses scenarios.

To further the learning experience, students had the opportunity to engage with local business leaders, including representatives from Carey, Richmond & Viking Insurance, Coldwell Banker Realty, the Community College of Rhode Island, Gustave White Sotheby’s International Realty, Hyundai of Newport,  Newport County YMCA, Potter League for Animals, the RISLA College Planning Center, Salve Regina University, Stop & Shop and Tasca Chrysler Jeep Ram Dodge Fiat.
