After 12 amazing seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers, Magic Johnson could have used his retirement to do well, anything. But since he’s stopped playing basketball, he’s continued to make moves in the business world.

With an estimated net worth of $1.2 billion, Johnson joins Tiger Woods, LeBron James and Michael Jordan as the fourth athlete to become a billionaire, according to Entrepreneur.

In addition to being a minority stakeholder in professional sports teams, including NFL’s Washington Commanders, the WNBA’s Los Angeles Sparks and MLB’s Los Angeles Dodgers, Johnson also owns a 60 percent stake in life insurance company EquiTrust. His investment company Magic Johnson Enterprises continues to provide resources to several underserved communities around the country, including Magic Johnson Theaters and Starbucks cafes.

Heman Bekele, a 15-year-old boy hailing from Ethiopia, has been honored by Time Magazine for creating a soap that could possibly treat and cure skin cancer. The outlet reported how Bekele noticed how the sun effected people’s skin and how they often worked in the sun without properly protecting themselves.

His family later immigrated to the United States when he was seven and gifted him a chemistry set for Christmas. The set included sodium hydroxide, which sparked Bekele’s interest in science. His observation of how the sun affected folks around him only grew.

“When I was younger, I didn’t think much of it, but when I came to America, I realized what a big problem the sun and ultraviolet radiation is when you’re exposed to it for a long time,” Bekele explained to Time.

“I’m really passionate about skin cancer research,” he continued. “Whether it’s my own research or what’s happening in the field.” Bekele ultimately learned about imiquimod and how it was already approved to treat certain forms of skin cancer.

Bekele eventually remembered his years in his native country and wondered if imiquimod was available to people regardless of their socio-economic status. “Almost everyone uses soap and water for cleaning. So soap would probably be the best option,” Bekele stated about why he decided to make soap.

Last year, the teenager won Discovery Education’s Young Scientist Challenge and received $25,000 for the potential of his idea. Bekele currently attends Woodson High School in Fairfax County, Va. When he’s not in class, he conducts his research at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore.

The Time article also revealed that the teen has around a decade to go before the soap could be approved as a cancer treatment.

Quincy Wilson, in, in many ways, just like other 16-year-olds. He is still getting straight As and doesn’t exactly know when he’ll get his driver’s license though it’s on his list of things to do. Unlike his peers, however, Wilson is out here crushing records on his way to becoming an Olympian.

Wilson broke his own under-18 world 400-meter record at the Olympic trials on Sunday. He came in third, following Bryce Deadmon (44.44) and Vernon Norwood (44.50). However, his time was still enough to make it to the final.

Two days earlier, Wilson set a record when he won his heat in 44.66. Now, his new best is 44.59 seconds.

“It means a lot to me because it means my hard work has been paying off,” Wilson said on Friday, per USA Today. “I’m just excited for myself.” The men’s 400 final is scheduled for tonight (Monday) and will air on NBC.

“I’m just running for my life out there. The race plan went out the window. I have a lot of things I can do to improve myself,” Wilson stated. “I’m in the world’s biggest final coming up. At 16 years old, I’m ecstatic right now. …It’s one of the happiest days of my life.”

Wilson, who attends Bullis School in Maryland, is now repped by a big apparel company (New Balance) after signing an NIL deal last year. He’s acutely aware of the pressure that comes with such a tremendous opportunity.

“It’s a different game,” Wilson remarked. “I’m not in high school anymore, I’m running with the big dogs now, so I gotta give it my all.”

If Wilson manages to qualify for Paris, he would become the youngest male member in history to join the American Olympic track team.

I’ll admit when I heard they were making a movie about Venus and Serena’s entry into the tennis world, I wasn’t immediately on board with Will as Richard Williams. However, like he’s done his entire career, Will proved me wrong and delivered a tour de force performance as a father determined to see his daughters achieve greatness. He’s swept through awards season, receiving accolades from every possible critics and film association. His performance feels completely locked into the story and character in a way he’s never done before, leading us to really appreciate just how far our Fresh Prince has come.

Ultimately, Will resigned from the Academy, with the organization banning him from all events, including The Oscars, for 10 years.
