Britney Spears’ blip of a husband, Jason Alexander, is changing his tune about their Las Vegas nuptials.
The wedding crasher and told TMZ in an interview published early Wednesday that he and the “Sometimes” singer were “absolutely in love” and “weren’t boozing” at the time of the impromptu wedding.
Alexander’s comments come after the release of Spears’ new memoir, “The Woman in Me,” in which she admitted that she and her longtime friend were “drunk” and “bored” when they went to a chapel in 2004.
“He and I got s—tfaced,” the singer writes.
“I don’t even remember that night at all, but from what I’ve pieced together, he and I lounged around the hotel room and stayed up late watching movies … then had the brilliant idea of going to A Little White Chapel at three thirty in the morning.”
She also made it abundantly clear that they were “not in love.”
The “Crossroads” star’s version of events aligns with what Alexander, 42, claimed more than 10 years ago when he told ABC News that they were doing all sorts of “drugs.”
“Alcohol is a drug. Coffee is a drug. Cigarette is a drug,” he told the outlet at the time. “Yeah, we were doing drugs.”
He also admitted that he was in love with her and figured she felt the same way about him, but then the marriage was immediately annulled following their whirlwind trip to Sin City.
“That was probably the hardest part about it,” he said. “I had obviously got my feelings involved.”
