E-40 To Be Honored With Street Named After Him In Vallejo

by UNN Feed
Vallejo, CA –

E-40 seems to be enjoying the fruits of his labor as he eases into veteran status, with his legacy now being anchored with a street named after him.

According to KTVU, the Vallejo City Council decided to honor the NorCal legend on Monday (July 31) by attaching his identity to the neighborhood in which he grew up. Magazine Street, which is also the title of a 2015 song by the rapper and mogul, is set to transform into “E-40 Way” in the near future.

2023 marks three decades since the hyphy pioneer’s debut album, which sparked the beginning of his ascension and also helped put the East Bay on Hip Hop’s radar. Federal was released in November 1993, which is presumably the month around which the city will set up a ceremony to inaugurate the new street name.

E-40 (real name Earl Stevens) was born and raised in Vallejo until he graduated from high school. He will join fellow rap icons 2Pac and Too $hort in having a street named after him in the Bay Area.

The 55-year-old MC has been racking up distinctions that speak to his influence in Hip Hop. In May, E-40 received an honorary doctorate degree in music from his alma mater, Grambling State University in Louisiana.

The “Tell Me Where to Go” hitmaker was invited to accept his degree at GSU’s graduation ceremony this year, where he also offered words of wisdom and encouragement to the outgoing class.

“This means so much ’cause I came a long way. I wanna thank God first and foremost. Always. It is with great honor and gratitude that I accept this…
