The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Hendersonville is hosting a play to benefit the Hendersonville Middle School 8th-grade trip to Washington, DC.
Stories from the M.O.B. (Mothers of the Brides) will be performed on Sunday, March 19, 2023 at 2 p.m. in the Fellowship Sanctuary.
The play is a series of monologues about women telling the stories of their “Mothers of the Brides” dresses. The stories range from funny to touching with everything in between.
Performed as a world premiere in March of 2018, the play has been presented as a fundraiser and a community service at several senior centers. The cast is comprised of friends, amateurs, and experienced actors.
The play was written by Doreen Blue of Flat Rock, NC. In addition to being a playwright, she volunteers in numerous capacities, among them the Carl Sandburg Home, Mountainview, and as a competitor in the NC Senior Games. In addition, she volunteers as a “fairy ambassador” at Bullington Gardens and a teacher of Ageless Grace and water aerobics. Blue’s short story “My Girl Scout Uniform Saga” was included in Illuminated Dresses at the Burning Coal Theater in Raleigh, NC.
The students are leaving for Washington, DC, on April 3, 2023 and returning April 6. Reservations for the performance are available at [email protected] but not required. A $10 donation is requested.
UUFH is located at 2021 Kanuga Rd. in Hendersonville. Additional information is available at uufhnc.org.
