After 50 years, the ASUI-Kibbie Activity Center is getting a new name. According to an email sent out by President Scott Green, P1FCU is slated to take the naming sponsorship. The name will now be the “P1FCU Kibbie Dome.”
On top of a new name for the Dome, the sponsorship will provide new opportunities for students. “Beyond the naming right, it includes a variety of financial literacy programs for students,” Green stated. “Building a partnership around something as foundational as financial literacy is powerful. No matter where life leads you, a firm understanding of personal finances is invaluable.”
The two student financial success programs that P1FCU will sponsor are Better Education About Money for Students (BEAMS) and Elevate Idaho. BEAMS teaches financial knowledge and skills, and around 400 UI students engage in it yearly. Elevate Idaho focuses on Vandal student-athletes as they navigate the new world of NIL deals.
Along with these programs, P1FCU will continue to work alongside the UI Office of Alumni Relations to offer a P1FCU Vandal Credit Card in addition to the current P1FCU Vandal Debit Card.
Although the Kibbie Dome may no longer be known as the ASUI-Kibbie Activity Center anymore, the memories and history of the Dome can’t be erased.
“A change in name is a new chapter for our treasured Kibbie Dome, the place where we come together to share our endeavors, challenges and triumphs,” Green stated. “We plan to recognize the generous support of the student body with a permanent monument at the venue that is being planned by ASUI leadership and University Advancement.”
In order for the name change to take effect, it must be approved by the Idaho State Board of Education. The vote on the change will be held at a special meeting on June 21.
