Nicki Minaj Gets ‘Ratchet’ On ‘Pound Town 2’ With Sexyy Red & Tay Keith

Nicki Minaj just co-signed another upcoming female rapper, hopping on the remix of Sexyy Red’s Tay Keith-produced hit, “Pound Town.”

The raunchy track has become a viral sensation since its release in January, racking up over 15 million on-demand streams thanks to the #PoundTownChallenge before Minaj even added her star power. The St. Louis native has been recognized by the likes of Post Malone and Cardi B for the record, and its new iteration “Pound Town 2” looks to boost her status even more.

“@nickiminaj I preciate you so much for blessin my track this is major I’m so humble and grateful,” Sexyy Red wrote on Instagram as she shared the new collab on Friday (May 26).

Earlier this year, Nicki Minaj linked up with newcomer Ice Spice for their record-breaking track “Princess Diana,” which led to Minaj becoming the rapper with the most No.1 hits on Billboard’s Digital Song Sales chart.

The pair have teamed up again for the soundtrack to the forthcoming Barbie movie, and a snippet was played in the film’s latest trailer that confirms it features a sample of Aqua’s 1997 hit, “Barbie Girl.”

Prior to Ice, Minaj recruited upcoming female rappers Katie Got Bandz, Maliibu Miitch, BIA and Akbar V as well as City Girls‘ JT for the remix to her 2022 hit “Super Freaky Girl.”

“I wanna hear girls rap again. Like, just rap,” the Queens native told JT in an interview for i-D shortly after the song dropped last fall. “When I did my BET Cypher years ago, I purposely didn’t wear revealing clothes. I wore a sweatsuit. So even though we were being super freaky girls on the song, and we all had fun, y’all really spit.”
