Ione Skye called out Gwyneth Paltrow for being “mean” to her brother, Donovan Leitch, during their brief relationship in the 1990s.
The actress got candid about the former couple’s romance in her newly released “Say Everything” memoir, recalling how she went on vacation to Mexico with Paltrow and Leitch shortly after the 1994 Northridge earthquake.
“Vacationing with Dono and his intimidating new girlfriend (yes, that Gwyneth) did not exactly sound relaxing, but anything was more relaxing than living in fear of the next earthquake,” she wrote, per The Post.
Skye, now 54, detailed how Leitch, now 57, was sick in bed during their time away and claimed Paltrow, now 52, was far from sympathetic toward him.
“At breakfast, Dono had distractedly tipped his water glass (he was one of the world’s most distracted people). A few drops had splashed Gwyneth, and she’d snapped, ‘Idiot.’ With a laugh, but still,” she alleged.
The “Say Anything” star claimed the snappy interaction between the Goop founder and Leitch led her to address the matter with her brother.
“Is Gwyneth always mean to you like that?” Skye recalled asking the “Blob” actor. “Dono laughed … My brother was smitten. He was 27 and looking toward the future, to marriage and kids.”
“Gwyneth was only 21 and wasn’t ready for anything too serious,” she continued. “Well, at least not yet. Six months later, she’d get a part in ‘Seven’ and fly to Reno to meet Brad Pitt — and we all know how that turned out.”
Despite detailing her unpleasant interaction with the Marvel star, Skye insisted she wasn’t trying to ruin Paltrow’s reputation.
“We were what, 21 at the time? We were so young,” she told People in an interview published Wednesday. “At the time, we thought we were so grown-up!”
