Special Events

Senior Exercise Party – Thursday, September 19 from 11 a.m. to 12 noon. Welcome fall as you break a sweat with other active adults. Free. Burton Street Community Center, 134 Burton Street.

Sneaker Ball – Saturday, September 21 from 4:30-10 p.m. Pair your sneakers with your best ball gown or tux for a night of dancing and community. Please register at www.avlREC.com. Linwood Crump Shiloh Community Center, 121 Shiloh Road.

Community Clean Up Walk – Saturday, September 21 from 1-2:30 p.m. Join other volunteers for an afternoon of cleaning, repairing, and improving outdoor spaces. We provide gloves (bring your own if preferred), trash grabbers, trash bags, and buckets. Celebrate with refreshments and conversation at Burton Street Center after the clean up. Day Trip: Jeter Mountain Farms Apple Picking – Thursday, September 26 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Visit one of the top apple-growing counties in the nation, Henderson County. We will pick apples, learn about the season, see spectacular views, and enjoy everything apple. Ages 18+. Cost is $2. Participants are responsible for purchasing their food and drink. Cornhole Tournament – Thursday, September 26 from 2-4 p.m. Grab a bag and a partner, toss like a boss, and throw like a pro as the games begin. Advance registration as an individual or team required.
