Julia Roberts to Star in Luca Guadagnino Thriller ‘After the Hunt’ for Amazon MGM

by UNN Feed

Julia Roberts is set to star in director Luca Guadagnino‘s thriller feature that is set in the world of academia.

Amazon MGM Studios has landed After the Hunt, with Roberts attached to the movie that has Guadagnino directing from a script by Nora Garrett. The project hails from Imagine Entertainment and centers on a college professor who faces a crossroads amid her own dark past when a standout student makes an accusation against one of her colleagues.

Imagine’s Allan Mandelbaum brought the script to the production company and worked with CAA to secure Roberts and Guadagnino. Guadagnino serves as a producer alongside Imagine’s Mandelbaum and Brian Grazer.

Roberts’ recent film credits include 2022’s Universal romantic comedy Ticket to Paradise opposite George Clooney and last year’s Netflix thriller Leave the World Behind that co-starred Mahershala Ali and Ethan Hawke.

Guadagnino is known for directing Call Me by Your Name (2017), Suspiria (2018) and Bones and All (2022). After the Hunt reunites him with Amazon MGM Studios, which releases his Zendaya-led film, Challengers, on April 26.

CAA represents all parties involved with After the Hunt. Additionally, Roberts is represented by Hirsch Wallenstein; Guadagnino by Range and Goodman Genow; and Garrett by Fourth Wall Management and Yorn Levine.

Deadline was first to report the news of After the Hunt landing at Amazon MGM Studios.
