Bill Hader’s ‘The Cat in the Hat’ Lands March 2026 Release in Theaters

Bill Hader is learning how to meow.

Warner Bros. announced Monday it will release its animated event pic The Cat in the Hat — based on the beloved Dr. Seuss tale — in theaters on March 6, 2026. It also revealed the movie’s voice cast for the first time. Hader, who will play The Cat, will star opposite Quinta Brunson (Abbott Elementary), Bowen Yang (SNL), Xochitl Gomez (Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness), Matt Berry (What We Do in The Shadows) and Paula Pell (Girls5eva).

The film is being written and directed by Alessandro Carloni and Erica Rivinoja, with Daniela Mazzucato and Jared Stern producing. Susan Brandt and Hader will executive produce. DNEG Animation will be the animation studio partner.

Warner Bros. Pictures Animation and Dr. Seuss Enterprises are backing the feature, which centers on the fanciful feline as he tries to cheer up a pair of siblings struggling to adapt to their new town.

Alessandro Carloni and Erica Rivinoja are directing and and writing, with Daniella Mazzucato and Jared Stern producing. Hader will executive produce alongside Susan Brandt, president-CEO of Dr. Seuss Enterprises. DNEG Animation will be the animation studio partner.

With this incredible voice cast led by Bill Hader as the fun-loving, agent of chaos himself and our filmmakers Alessandro and Erica at the helm, we look forward to sharing this Seussian cinematic spectacle with audiences everywhere in 2026,” said Warner Bros. Animation president Bill Damaschke, who has been tasked with overhauling the division.
