The Lifetime two-part documentary Where is Wendy Williams? is casting doubt on Williams’s care during filming as producers and members of Williams’s camp place blame on each other.
Former Williams publicist Shawn Zanotti slammed the documentary’s producers in a recent NBC News interview.

“I felt that (Williams) was being exploited,” Zanotti told NBC News, “She thought we were focusing on the comeback of her career… She would be mortified. There’s no way you can convince me that she would be okay with looking and seeing herself in that way.”
Zanotti told NBC News that in 2022, she was first pitched a follow-up to Wendy Williams: What a Mess! another Lifetime documentary full of revelations including her life after splitting from ex-husband Kevin Hunter, Sr. The same production company that produced What a Mess produced the recent documentary. However, Zanotti says the project shifted amid Williams’s publicized health issues in recent years.
If you ask Williams’s brother Tommy how she’s doing, he’d tell you that she’s improving.
“When I speak to Wendy, she sounds fine,” Willams shared with InTouch Weekly. “Wendy has improved. I know my sister from where she was to where she is now, and she has a substantial amount of improvement. It’s dialogue and conversation, topics, content speech pattern, everything.”
Tommy added that the 59-year-old former talk show host hasn’t exhibited “past behaviors” that were featured in the docuseries. “She was in a worse state, and the (documentary) depicted it. Now, she’s in a different state.”
