“The boyfriend” is going to be the son-in-law.
Mariah Kennedy Cuomo – the 28-year-old daughter of former Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Kerry Kennedy – is engaged to her longtime boyfriend, Tellef Lundevall, can exclusively confirm.
The proposal went down in Italy, where Mariah has been vacationing with her twin sisters, Cara and Michaela, and their dad for the Thanksgiving holiday.
We’re told that while in Sicily, Mariah was surprised by Lundevall, 33, who flew in to propose.
“The smitten couple got engaged in Milazzo, Sicily, on land that used to be owned by Cuomo matriarch Matilda Raffa,” an insider familiar with the family told us.
“[The land] has since been converted to a beautiful nature preserve.”
The source added of the scene, “As the sun came out after a rainy morning,” Lundevall led Mariah to a stunning natural local landmark called the “Pool of Venus.”
“[He] shocked his bride-to-be when he got down on one knee!” the insider shared.
Photos exclusively obtained by show Lundevall popping the question in front of the breathtaking backdrop. The pics also show Mariah beaming while showing off her new engagement ring.
Sources tell us that Lundevall properly asked his future-father-in-law for his daughter’s hand in marriage.
As for Cuomo, a source told us the proud dad is “over the moon for Mariah, and couldn’t be happier to officially welcome Tellef into the family,” but jokingly added, “So long as they stay in New York after they get married.”
Lundevall became a household figure of sorts during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, when he moved into the governor’s mansion with the Cuomo family, and was routinely referred to as “the boyfriend” during Cuomo’s infamous daily briefings.
